Future Classic

With Future Classic somehow managing to pull off impeccable artist management, publishing and their own record label, it’s clear that this a business with minimal fear and plenty of ambition.

The company has been running for over ten years and and McLay and Gillard have commented that while they do have more than one platinum record under the label’s belt, everything is a work in progress “While it’s brilliant in that we’ve been super fortunate to have some media focus and some people being aware of what we’re doing now, and that sort of enables us to do more things, we’re only as interesting as the next thing we’re working on, really”

The label began in an Alexandria terrace in Sydney’s Inner West and soon grew in size, first touring soul and jazz acts around Sydney and then delving into techno later in the piece. Hosting parties and linking up wth the city’s newest talents Future Classic continued to grow. one of their first signings happened to be a young Northern Beaches producer Harley Streten, who would later become Flume, probably the most successful electronic artist in Australia. To say that Future Classic’s team are good at their job would be a complete understatement.
