Modular Records is now owned by Universal, but its founder Steve Pavlovic is responsible for one of Australia’s biggest exports

The past few years might have been a bit rocky for the Modular Records founder, but Steve Pavlovic is still one of the most recognisable names in the Australian music industry.

Founding Modular Records in 1998, Steve Pavlovic signed Tame Impala, The Avalanches, Ladyhawke and Wolfmother.

Despite losing Modular to Universal in 2015 over an unsavoury court case involving royalties owed to one of his bands. Modular is now equally respected by musicians as the JHS Overdrive Preamp – in case you’re not familiar, that’s a whole lotta respect!
