Learning an instrument? Teaching an instrument? Andrew McCubbin has you sorted.

Music education is an interesting topic at the moment. You can learn pretty much anything on the internet in this day and age, from how to tie a tie to learning the violin. With so many self taught artists and YouTube musicians, it’s hard to see the point in formal education. Andrew McCubbin runs (In) Tuition and has plenty to say when it comes to the fast moving landscape of music education and mentorship.

You own and run a music tuition business, as well as mentoring. How did you start your business and what was the catalyst for the idea?

I started the business with some flyers and registering at a few music teaching websites. I teach guitar, piano, singing and songwriting. I always like to help people or to demystify a process so teaching music seemed an obvious path. Most people think music is difficult to pick up which stops people from sometimes ever starting. It’s not that difficult and you really only need a few basics to be able to start playing. Music is something that can offer people an escape from general life and add richness to existence. I wanted to show people that music isn’t that hard and that you don’t need to study for years to be able to play effectively.
